In the small Canadian village of McBride, with a population of under 1,000, a unique sight has captured everyone's attention. A deer has been spotted wandering through the snowy forests, donning a bright yellow high-visibility jacket. 

A few nights ago, as a local reporter drove home, like many others in rural communities across the Americas, they anticipated seeing deer, a common occurrence in such areas. However, what they witnessed was beyond expectation. "Deer crossing highways are not usually newsworthy, but this one stood out in its high-visibility attire, a black and yellow long-sleeved garment. It was hard to tell if it was a jacket, sweatshirt, or t-shirt," the reporter later wrote. 

After returning home, the reporter shared a picture of the deer on Facebook, only to find that neighbors were already familiar with this oddly dressed animal. The excitement over this strange sight spread rapidly, even making its way to TV news. While the villagers in McBride found the sight amusing, they also harbored concerns. The bright jacket could make the deer an easier target for predators. There was also the risk of the jacket getting caught on something, leaving the deer trapped. 

Conservation officers were informed about the situation. They noted that although the deer seemed healthy and mobile for now, if the jacket got snagged, it could panic and injure itself. High-visibility vests are commonly worn by hunters and workers in dangerous fields like construction to increase visibility. How the deer ended up wearing one remains a mystery. Deer are naturally skittish, making it hard to imagine a human getting close enough to put the vest on it, yet stranger things have happened. 

Currently, the plan is for conservation officers to find the deer while it's feeding and use a tranquilizer dart to sedate it. Once the deer is unconscious, they will remove the coat.
