Reflective clothing material selection

Location of Reflective Elements

360-Degree Visibility:  To increase visibility from all angles, reflective material should be placed around your body.

Key areas include:

Shoulders and arms (important for signaling or waving)

Chest and back

Legs (especially if you’re cycling or walking/running near traffic)

Zippers and Logos: Some clothing items use reflective zippers, seams, or logos that increase visibility without a full reflective panel.

Material

Reflective Tape or Fabric: Look for clothing with reflective tape or fabric patches made from highly reflective materials like 3M Scotchlite. This ensures high visibility when illuminated by headlights.

Breathable Fabrics: For athletic activities, make sure the reflective clothing is made from moisture-wicking and breathable fabrics like polyester, spandex, or other technical materials. This will keep you comfortable while you’re active.
